Innovative programs that teach medical students and residents to more carefully prescribe medications for older patients — including elderly patients taking multiple medications — can lead to safer prescribing practices, suggest two studies presented here during the American Geriatrics Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting. All medications can cause side effects and, due to age-related physiological changes, older adults are particularly likely to experience these.
